BC Ferries runs the ferry between Nanaimo and Gabriola. The crossing is approximately 25 minutes.
Foot passengers, bikes and vehicles are all welcome. The ferry operates frequently throughout the day. Reservations are not required, but at the most popular times you may experience a wait.

BC Ferries operates two ferry routes to Nanaimo from the mainland. Welcoming cars, bikes and foot passengers. Departues are either at Tsawassen and Horseshoe Bay* and the journey to Nanaimo takes about 2 hours. (*Reservations are now required for all vehicles on the Horseshoe Bay route)

Hullo operates foot passenger fast ferry service between downtown Vancouver (Convention Center in Coal harbour) and downtown Nanaimo. The journey takes approximately 1hr and 15 mins. In Nanaimo Hullo offers a shuttle service to the bus exchange near ferry to Gabriola - check schedule.
Sea Plane
Float planes operated by locally-owned Gulf Island Seaplanes run daily between Vancouver and Gabriola Island. Departures are available from Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver, as well as the YVR south terminal at Vancouver International Airport.
Float plane operated by Harbour Air and SeaAir also serve Nanaimo, and depart from Vancouver as well as other areas.
Private Boat
Arriving by boat? Gabriola Island has two marinas near Silva Bay and a public wharf to welcome you (Degnen Bay). Weather permitting, anchorage is possible in False Narrows and in some of the sheltered bays around Gabriola Island.
